Super Salsa

Super Salsa

I looked for a great salsa recipe for years before I found this one. I serve it all summer and winter long and it has never failed to satisfy guests. It even makes nice gifts.
Course: Appetizer
Cuisine: Mexican

Ingredients

  • 28 oz can petite diced tomatoes 2 each
  • 2 ½ cup onion chopped
  • 1 ½ cup green pepper chopped
  • ½ cup jalapeno pepper chopped
  • 6 clove garlic minced
  • 2 tsp cumin This is what really makes this a great salsa
  • 2 tsp black pepper
  • cup canning salt
  • cup sugar
  • cup vinegar
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 15 oz can tomato paste

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients together and bring to a slow boil for 10 minutes.
  • Seal in jars and cook in hot water bath for 10 minutes.
  • This is a medium to low heat salsa. It can be made more or less chunky based on the size you cut the veggies into.

Notes

May 2015 – Used crushed tomatoes but didn’t like it as well.
Makes: Makes 6.5 pints
