Japanese Fried Potato

We first had this dish for Christmas 2016.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium potato
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 1 medium egg whisked
  • ¼ cup flour
  • ½ cup bread crumbs can also use Panko crumbs
  • vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • Wash, peel, and cut the potatoes into bite-sized pieces.
  • Wrap the potato pieces in a plastic wrapper and heat in the microwave to soften them.
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  • Spread flour over the potato chucks.
  • Dip the potato into whisked egg.
  • Spread breadcrumbs (or Panko) on the potato pieces.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan to 400 degrees and fry the potatoes for one minute or until browned.
