Bread, Spiced Applesauce

We found this recipe on Allrecipes.com when we had an abundance of applesauce that we made. It is excellent.

Ingredients

Bread

  • 1 ½ cup applesauce
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 medium egg
  • 3 TBL milk
  • 2 cup flour all-purpose
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon ground
  • ½ tsp nutmeg ground
  • ½ tsp allspice ground
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup pecans chopped

Topping

  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup pecans chopped
  • ½ tsp cinnamon ground

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F degrees. Lightly grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine the applesauce, sugars, oil, eggs, and milk: beat well. Sift in the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt; stir until smooth. Fold in the pecans. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
  • Mix topping ingredients together and spread evenly over batter.
  • Bake in oven for 60 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center of loaf comes out clean.

Notes

3/16/17 – Substituted 1 cup of Quick Cook Oatmeal for 1 cup of flour.
1/28/18 – Made in 4 small loaf pans. Only baked for 45 minutes. Turned out good.
