Bread, Spiced Applesauce
We found this recipe on Allrecipes.com when we had an abundance of applesauce that we made. It is excellent.
Ingredients
Bread
- 1 ½ cup applesauce
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup white sugar
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- 2 medium egg
- 3 TBL milk
- 2 cup flour all-purpose
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon ground
- ½ tsp nutmeg ground
- ½ tsp allspice ground
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup pecans chopped
Topping
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup pecans chopped
- ½ tsp cinnamon ground
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F degrees. Lightly grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the applesauce, sugars, oil, eggs, and milk: beat well. Sift in the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt; stir until smooth. Fold in the pecans. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
- Mix topping ingredients together and spread evenly over batter.
- Bake in oven for 60 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center of loaf comes out clean.
Notes
3/16/17 – Substituted 1 cup of Quick Cook Oatmeal for 1 cup of flour.
1/28/18 – Made in 4 small loaf pans. Only baked for 45 minutes. Turned out good.
