Grandma Fisher's No Bake Cookies

These cookies were a favorite of Carl's mom, Elsie Fisher, and she made them every year at Christmas.  This recipe is easy to make and surprisingly tasty.

2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup canola cooking oil
1/2 cup milk
3 TBS powdered cocoa
3 cups regular (not instant) oatmeal
1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla

Boil together sugar, oil, milk, and cocoa on medum heat for about 2 minutes.  Remove from heat and add peanut butter and vanilla.  After peanut butter dissolves, sitr in oats until well coated.  Drop by the heaping teaspoon full onto waxed paper to cool.  Nuts or raisins can be added if desired.  NOTE:  Less boiling makes the cookies softer; longer causes them to be crumbly.

Servings: about 30 cookies
