Cheese Cake with Rice Krispies

The recipe has several steps and does take some time to put together but it has never failed to get rave reviews.  Give it a try.  We got the recipe from our good friend Joan with whom we play card several times a year.

This recipe is can be made for a 9 x 9 inch pan or a 9 x 13 inch pan.  The ingredients for the larger pan will be put in parenthesis ( ).

3 (4.5) cups uncrushed Rice Krispies
2 (3) cup sugar
1/4 (3/8) tsp cinnamon
1/2 (3/4) cup butter
2 (3) 8 ounce package cream cheese
2 (3) eggs
2 (3) tsp vanilla
16 (24) ounces sour cream
16 (24) ounces Kool Whip

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

CRUST:
1.  Crush Rice Krispies into a fine powder.
2.  Melt 1/2 (3/4) cup butter.
3.  Combine Rice Krispies, melted butter, 1/4 (3/8) tsp cinnamon, and 1/2 (3/4) cup sugar and mix well.
4.  Set a small amount of the mixture aside to use as a sprinkle on the top.
5.  Press into 9 x 9 (or 9 x 13) pan.

FILLING:
1.  Combine cream cheese, egg, 1 (1 1/2) tsp vanilla, and 1 (1 1/2) cup sugar and blend until creamy smooth.
2.  Pour into crust>
3.  Bake at 300 degrees for 30 to 35 mintutes.
4.  Cool 10 minutes.

TOPPING:
1.  Combine sour cream, 1 (1 1/2) tsp vanilla, and 1/2 (3/4) cup sugar and blend well.
2.  Pour on top of filling.
3.  Bake at 300 degrees for 15 more minutes and cool completely.

FINAL TOUCH:
1.  When completly cool top with a generous layer of Kool Whip.
2.  Sprinkle with retained crust crumbs.
